| 149 "NIAD" photo West County Times Artistic Director Ethel Mann, and the NIAD Artists enjoying their display of 150 hand painted, handmade kites at the Richmond Art Center, in Richmond, CA Spring, 1993 When the kite show was dismantled we took all of the artists and went for a picnic and flew kites. Guest Sculptor, Gale Wagner, built the kites and head painter, Gayle Paul, facilitated the artist's work. NIAD is an acronym for: National Institute of Art and Disabilities. I spent my immediate post graduate period working at NIAD from 1990 thru 1995, when I became a credentialed classroom teacher. |
